I've had hostgator shared hosting for the last couple years and haven't had a single problem.

My personal recommendation would be to check the SLA of hosting providers before signing up with them. You will find a lot of hidden terms in that. Secondly, you should check how reliable are they by contacting them and finding some reviews about them on reviews sites. If the hosting provider is able to offer you at least 99.95% uptime and 24/7 customer support via Live Chat, phone, and email, then it is worth to go with them.

Not sure shared hosting is a viable solution for autoblogging. I would imagine VPS or dedicated is the way to go if you are going to be doing that.

You shouldn't consider shared hosting for auto blogging, because with such kind of software the CPU usage rises ever so much and web host surely won't like to take any risk for you only, as there other accounts on the node can be affected. Autoblogging is sketchy without a VPS.

Go for a VPS hosting, shared hosting might not be suitable for your site :)

CPU usage depends on your CMS/plugins too.
Even 10 visitors could get your site suspended if something is wrong with your site.

I recommend you to look at linode.com, their price are reasonable. I can manage my 5 sites with a 10000 U/w a day. With 512 mb nginx + mysql + eaccerelator setup is a way to go.
