Hello all!
First of all i would like to thank everyone who contributes to this forum. I have been snooping around and reading the endless amount of information on this site. This is my first post, but i hope with time to contribute more as i become more knowledgeable.

I created an autoblog about a month ago. Site traffic has grown every day a little, which i was very content with. Then something happen about 4 days ago and my site traffic start growing much more faster and basically had 300, 400, 500 and yesterday about 700 unique visitors. I figured out my site was in was ranking #1 or close to it for a very popular question. Today when i went to google to look at my inadvertently rank on this question. It was not there. I thought maybe my site had been unindex. But i check and i think my whole site still is indexed. So my question is Has anyone experience anything like this? Could have some changes i did last night effect my ranking that fast?

Any input would be appreciated thanks! :)

Probably the google dance....

It can be ANYTHING. There is no one little thing that can trigger a increase or decrease in the amount of visitors your website gets.

There is nothing like a google DANCE

Your site is probably still being ranked..sometimes it will disapear for a couple of hours and crap like that, nothing special.
Nice work by the way!

I know its been said already, but the Google dance (moving around in the ranks for a little bit before finally settling in at 1 spot) is very common. 9 times out of 10 these threads end with the site owner being happy where they ended up so dont panic its all part of it.

Welcome to the party :1244:

Good luck

Not to worry man...ITS normal GOOGLE dance ..which may last from 1 hours to more than one week as well...

You just keep on building good links and you will see more than 700 UV soon....

I have this phenomen since 3-4 months now! My niche site comes on #1 for my keyword, stays 4-5 days there and then gets out of the rankings for 4-5 days... Then again, after 4-5 days, back on #1 for 4-5 days... and so on...

I dont know why, I dont know how or what... The domain is now 6-8 months old.

It can be google dance, but when it is an Auto blog can be that google detected the duplicate content and you got a penalty.

why do people think as soon as they reach a certain ranking that their site will stay there indefinitely? unless you are a super-high authority site, your pages will likely bounce in rankings quite freuqently.

Well i just found it strange that i would be number 1 when obviously my site was brand new and has no authority. It surprised me more that i was #1 than it was dropped. Thanks for all the feedback!

Strong high pr backlinks that are diversified will keep you where you want to be.

Could defs be anything, is your content unique? Are you spinning articles? Are you spamming links?

If it is new website then it is probably just experiencing the waves of Google. Nothing new to a new site. Just to check where to put in the rankings. Afterwards, once the site gets established if Google finds quality links and content on your site then it will have a much better position.
