I havn't submitted a site map to google yet, and i'm adding content, does it matter when i add my site map ?

i've done any links yet apart from some social links

You started your blogging means, then you can submit the sitemap to Google.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter too much. A sitemap simply tells Google your site's structure. But if your site structure was done well (i.e. internal linking), the crawlers usually find things well enough on their own.

There are actually plenty of plugins, like Yoast, that do this for you without you even knowing it, so there's a good chance that your sitemap is even already submitted. Not that it matters, it's not a necessity anyway.

you can submit whenever you want

i forgot to submit for about a year after i started one of my sites and it was still ranking for terms. i'm not a good example though. if i could do it over again, i'd submit earlier

I have started a lot of sites, without submitting the sitemap to GWT, and based on my observation, it doesn't really matter that much, really.
If you have some good links pointing back to your site, or if your site has some authority based on past link building efforts, then it doesn't really matter when it comes to submitting the sitemap though, as those links will get your content discovered anyways.
But if those aren't working, or if you want a faster way to get your content indexed, then submit your sitemap accordingly.

Sitemap is not necessary, in the past when Google did not develop itself but today you do not need to sitemap, meta, etc.

It doesn't matter when you will submit the site map. It makes easier for Google to find out about the content on your site so that they can serve it up in the search results.

Sitemap is the single page layout which contains list of all your webpages. If visitor wants to search any particular page then he can directly access that page using the sitemap. Sitemap must be in xml format. XML site maps are very important for the web-browser for ranking the web-pages because search engine used to get the pages form the XML sitemap.

It allows webmaster to add the additional information of the URL. Search engine crawls the site with the sitemap.

So it is important to add the sitemap for your website.
