So I have smaller sites with just a few pages. Do I put the site map in the footer for all the pages or just the home page? There is no reason I shouldn't add a site map to my websites with only a few pages right?

I'm working to add more pages to my sites, but in the mean time I intend to set up the site maps in the process. Don't want to be hurt even more by Google for site maps showing I only have 4 pages on them. I dropped on most of my sites in Google and want to create higher on page quality to try and counter.

None of these site maps will be submitted to Google. Just in my footer of the homepage and globally if advised, but I'd assume it's unnecessary/bad.

There is nothing wrong with including sitemap on the footer of all pages- thats what HTML Sitemap are for, they enable visitors to find sections of the website easily without too much navigation. Additionally, create an XML sitemap and submit it to Search Engines, upload it to your root folder and webmaster tools and you are good to go.

Well I'm not submitting to Google. I have a huge network of sites so I don't want to use webmaster tools. Wondering if even analytics is a wise move personally. Thanks for the advise, I'll start creating them today.

What do you mean by 'submitted' to Google. You don't really submit things to Google anymore. Google just finds it.

It isn't as if Google can kick your website off the Internet. If you aren't worried about search rankings as evidenced by not wanting to "submit" there really doesn't seem to be any harm in using Webmaster Tools and analytics.

I don't want to use the webmaster tools. You can submit sitemaps there, I was saying I'm not when somebody suggested it.

Sorry londes, but your status of newbie under your name suits you. Since when does my not wanting to submit this sitemap to Google mean I don't care about search engine rankings? I don't understand this...
