My site is currently having a lot of visitors and it is getting an error, "error establishing a database connection", any way to fix it this fast? How could I go about upgrading my hosting package quickly? Im on 1&1. Thankyou

Just ask support to enable more database connections, or ask what package they recommend increasing to.

I have been getting this problem on digital Ocean ~ once a month. Try disabling plugin one by one to find culprit. Either way, it's a great problem to have.

Fixed the error but sadly the website is still breaking. I've upgraded the contract just hoping it'll come quickly

If you're not using a CDN like cloudflare, it can help to reduce the connections to your server, or use some cache plugin.

Contact your hosting provider or move to dedicated hosting.

- Buy a VPS or Dedicated Server - important
- If you are using Wordpress use a cache plugin (wp-rocket personal best) - Really important
- Be sure there is not a plugins who is doing tone of sql request

and you are done :)

I second this, Hope it will help.

Which host are you using, did you check analytics to find out if it’s bot traffic? Normally hosts companies will automatically give you more data and then you’ll be asked to upgrade.

I would recommend siteground and wpx these can take care of your traffic
