Hello people!

My site was just getting traction from google (posted 45+ articles) but turns out my server wasnt secure so someone hacked it.

It was the japanese keyword hack where the hacker automatically creates hundreds of thousands of pages in japanese that then get indexed by google and hurt the overall SEO of the site.

As you can see, I lost all my rankings and Im now not getting any traffic.

What do I do? New domain and post the articles there, or do I keep going in hopes that google will fix it? All these pages redirect to a 404 now since I cleaned everything up.

Would appreciate any help :)

clean up and secure the site and start over?
create new site with similar content and start over?
probably start over either way

It depends how deep the hack was - if all your folders are infected at the server level, you may just move the site to new server or new hosting.

Do you have a clean (non infected) back up?

Try cleaning up first and change passwords, see if the hacker still has access after cleaning up; if so he has a good backdoor, and this is trouble.

I cleaned everything up and the server is safe now, but the rankings are still gone... will they come back eventually?

This happened to me too, I have lost Google rankings but not Yandex and Bing. If we can solve this, everything will be better.

If the hacker is really out, then the indexed spammy pages will progressively disappear from google index, so regularly check site:domain.tld so see if the number of indexed pages decreases.

I am afraid it may take some time for your rankings to come back, and you may never be back at the same level, depending how long it lasted and other factors only Google knows.
