Hey BHW pros! This forum is seriously kicking! :D

I was wondering if I could get some expert opinions out there..

I've gone for a fairly low competitive keyword, and I got ranked on the first page for quite a while, and the page went up to a page rank of 2.

Now however.. it's ranking is dropping FAST, AFTER it got a higher page rank.

In terms of backlinking I put it through Tribepro - so it got put on a heap of social bookmarking sites.. but that was about all I did.

All my on-page SEO was done with SEO pressor so I know that's right.

What I guess I don't understand is how it can be dropping so quickly after it's page rank went UP? It's just not a competitive keyword.. and there aren't that many people going after it..

I'm clueless ??

HELP!

Hi man. I think I have a site facing the same situation as you. The only difference is my keyword is probably medium competition as it is a highly competitive marketed kw.. My site was building nicely to page 3 from nowhere, using social bookmarking links as I recently bought BMD, and suddenly, from last week after a very small scrapebox aa list of about 200 to 300 posted to site, disappeared from top 1000. It is still indexed as I checked, but the site is nowhere to be found for my keyword..
As for my opinion, I would say that probably our link diversity is too low with only one kind of links (bookmarks)and might have been too obvious, thus penalised. I would like any expert advice on this too. Should we find more backlinks of other types? Or is my site google dancing? (From 35 to nowhere in 1000 but still indexed).
I would love to hear your opinion fellow BHWers. Appreciated!

Yeah wow my site is still ranked on the 2nd page unlike yours, but it's slowly still dropping from 2nd page to 3rd page to 4th etc. Maybe link diversity is the issue here.. I'm still fairly new to SEO but considering I've only blasted it with Tribepro (social bookmarking) maybe that's why it's slowly dropping? I thought a google dance meant it would wildly fluctuate, and this isn't fluctuating like from 1,000 back to 5. It's slowly losing about 10 spots each day.. FROM THE SAME DAY IT INCREASED IN PAGE RANK FROM 0 -2??

kind of like it's slowly fading out of existence like Marty out of his 1985 photo in Back to the future I !! (I watched it the other night - such a classic film) 1.21 Jigawatts? What the hell is a jigawatt?? ;)

If you stopped sending links of any type to it, then that will be why. If G see that your site got links for a while, and then stopped, it will assume your site has lost quality and will start slipping down the ranks.

SEO is an ongoing process and unless you have a well-established site that picks up links naturally then you will need to keep creating links, and especially diversified ones.

Hey thanks funkychicken.

A couple of days ago I blasted my site with some spun junk through AMR back to that particular page and it has shot back up to #4!!!

So this means I now added some article links as well as social bookmarking ones, so that's given it some LINK DIVERSITY now which could explain why it has shot back up again.

SEO is an interesting process.. It's funny how you slowly start to really understand how google thinks and works.. It's pretty fun!
