Site:Domain.com?

People use "site:domain.com" to see if their site is still in the index of Google.

When I do this to 2 of my sites, I only see their URL appear. There are no descriptions and no other results. Only the URL.

What does that mean?

It means the pages of your sites are not indexed (if there are any other pages).

The most common reason why you would have no other pages indexed and no description, is if your site is flash-based. If there's no static text for the spiders to pick up then they will have nothing to go by for a description. Similarly, spiders won't index links placed in a flash object (IE navigation bar).

If your site isn't flash based then there could be something else preventing spiders from crawling your site and indexing it properly.

Oh I see, should I re-ping my sites?

I thought they are being penalized or something. Because one of the site is NOT in the Top 1000 results.

They are WordPress-based and there ARE words in there.

If they are wordpress then did you remember to make them visible for search engines in privacy options? I know I had the same problem once..

One of my sites were blocking SE, and now it is unblocked.

I do have the plugin, and I'm just starting to add backlinks to it.

I've experienced it too, after a couple of week I realize that! Also make sure you added meta description tag in order to show the description on SERP, you can try using all-in-one seo pack or platinum seo.
