Hello all,

I kindly ask for help.
I have a local site positioned in the area of cleaning companies + locations.
Until two days ago I was on the first page at the fifth place for the keyword “cleaning company + location”
Yesterday I suddenly disappeared from the serp.

If on Google I type:
intitle: “cleaning company + city”
the home comes up in second place

if on Google I type:
“cleaning company + city”
I am out of the serp

if on Google I type:
cleaning company + city
I am out of the serp

I haven't touched the site in months.
GMB is ok with reviews.
In GSC I have no penalties
Any guidance from you on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
First of all, the "not touched the site in months" may be your primary isssue. If you site has a lower possitin, that may be the case. Check for all kind of technical and security updates that you server/ site may require. Check the sites that are nou in front of you in search. People do not understand, once you got a good possition in google, you think that you will alsways be there. The correct answer is "NO" - other people/ businesses will improve their sites or new ones will appear as competition every day.

In case you jumped more then 20 places, that means your site doesn't comply with the latest google guidelines. You need to check that and fix it.

The site has not simply been undermined by competitors, as I said, it is out of the serp.

In this case you need to verify analytics for traffic and check is there's a drop in traffic. Check google search console and see if you still have backlinks. You can use any other seo tool for more indepth data (you can find on this forum accounts for ahrefs, semrush, moz to buy and check your site data). Read about the latest google updates and check if your website follows most of the guidelines there.

You can check search console if you have any notification related to site penalty - in case you don't have, that means is just about the site performance.

Check your site in pagespeed tools and see the results.

Here's a post that summarize everything you need to follow for your website: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/what-are-the-best-seo-practices-in-2025.1700205/post-19071002

Before understanding what happen, you need data - gather that data in any way possible and try to understand what means for your website and what acctions you can take to improve the rankings of the website.

At this point, without knowing more about your website, that's all I can tell you.

If there is a drop in traffic on those pages then it is a concern for you, check by site:domain.com whether those pages are still there in the SERP's.
Based on this I can tell you the right procedure.

The pages are indexed

I have the same issue, I have 2 site is on top 1 of 2 keyword, then suddenly it disappear from serp

We need to see two things here,

1st - Do you have a valid gmb or address for that city you are targeting?

2nd - does the content solves the purpose of end customers or the page is just designed to manipulate google searches?

If that does not add vlue to customers good will count them duplicate pages as already indexed and filter our such pages.

Google has bee strict regading location based oages, if they dont add value they will nowehere be in results now.

In your case they must have appeared after you manually fectch them in search console?

websites can

disappear sometimes.. just like ppl

try to re index agressvily

Sounds like a temporary Google shuffle, keep an eye on GSC and local signals, it often stabilizes in a week or two.

Test search from different devices or locations to see if it's a personalized SERP issue.
