Site disappeared from google

Hey BHW, hopefully this is the right section.

Just to elaborate on the title im a newbie, decided to try to make some MNS recently. Started ranking in the top 100 for a day after I pinged my URL's and did some minor backlinking. The next day my site completely disappeared. I waited a couple of days to see if the ranks were going to come back but no, i'm not even in the top 1000. So I decided to make this thread to get an expert opinion.

My site is still indexed, so I still have hopes. My content is unique all I did was a social networking thing with SENuke. Also the day I started ranking, I signed up to webmaster tools and I don't know if that has any correlation to the drop.

So after all that I just wondering if this is the google dance or did penguin have it's way with my site? and is there anyway I can bounce back from this as its a very demoralising start to my IM career or should I just scrap the site?

This is called Google Dance, Kasiano.

Most likely your site disappeared from top 100 because of the little backlinking and pinging you did for it. But there's nothing to worry about as this is completely normal for new sites.
Add some good quality content and do some more backlinking and I'm sure it'll come back better than ever.

Thanks for the response, I feel a lot better now. Just one thing when you say "Most likely your site disappeared from top 100 because of the little backlinking and pinging you did for it" do you mean doing that specifically knocked me out of the top 100 or not doing enough of these did?

It does happen with new sites all the time. Just continue your backlinking efforts in a more natural way and keep adding new content. Hopefully you will recover in couple of weeks.

You should continue to build quality backlinks, your website will bounce back.

Thats only because of latest penguin update,you can see its impact on your site.Do slower link building for now to make your site survive.

Thanks for the replies, i'll have to do some more research before I start doing SEO again. It's a bit hard atm to form a decent plan with all the conflicting strategies because of penguin. I don't really know what backlinks I can safely link to my money site

The SEO I did was pretty slow but I used SENuke and I've heard that leaves a big footprint so I dont think i'll use that for the moment.
Will this hit make my site harder to rank now?

Kasiano, I agree with everyone's take that this is a new site and you probably didn't haven't gotten affected by Penguin, YET. From all of the SEO and news article I have read since April 24th, social media activity seems to be a priority for Google. I would suggest maintaining at least a business Google+ page. I wouldn't participate in any "artificial" (whatever that is ) link building schemes, especially as many people (including us) were involved in pre-Penguin. It's not worth it, even if it works in the short term. If your site becomes successful, I would suggest hiring an SEO firm on an ongoing basis (like we're trying to do now after Penguin kicked us in the balls).

I understand the need to be careful and take it slow if you're making an authority site but for a couple of MNS it seems like it will take months for any results. Also all the other comments seemed to encourage linkbuilding so I think i'll continue doing that, just more carefully and slowly rather than stop altogether. Thanks anyway

Build the content, spread your back link diversity around.

Diversify your Links type and use some general anchor text Like click here, more etc. its work really well after penguin update

Hey, just another question, I've been using Seoserp.com to check my rankings and im still gone but when I check search queries in webmaster tools it says im ranking still. So my question is, is seoserp.com not accurate or is search queries in webmaster tools inaccurate?
