Hi Guys,

My website designer won't give me access to make changes to site layout etc, I have restricted privileges in my admin panel and can't get access to plugins etc to make a database dump. He also hosts the site, is there any way to do this without access in the backend to Settings / Plugins etc.

Because he hosts it I cant get into the cpanel (or FTP) to change my privileges in the backend.

Is there a way to do this?

Yeh basically impossible to get a hold of until he needs money and i've had enough of it to be honest, I have know my way around wordpress no problem but I need access to the admin rights and he wont give me them as he is requiring alot of money to make me an admin that I wont pay him

Personally i have no idea what you can do, but hope you can find a way to solve your issue.

I'd get very legal on him very quickly.

I'd be including blackmail in my legal action too.

Watch how quickly he falls into line when you do that.

Yeah, this might be your only option at this point. How did the designer get the admin rights to your site anyway? Are you renting the site - or did he cut you out?

Maybe they were both admins, and then the designer changed the permissions of the OP.
Contact your host, maybe they can change your permission through phpmyadmin or something.

I hate website designers like that.

Do what Trepanated said and make sure he gives you access. If he doesn't, then find a new web designer who doesn't limit your access.
