Single word domain available...Should i get it?

I found a single word domain and the .com is available. The word is recognised in wiki.
Will all single word domains be worth the investment?

Only if it is a common word. If it is some crap you will only hear in scrabble then forget it

If it's not common then is it marketable as a unique trademark? You can do a trademark search at TESS (Google it) and maybe you can then flip it to a start-up. There was an article about how all the good domain names are taken.

I managed to get a 4 letter product domain name. By using redirects, I also use it as my own personal URL shortener. Hell, if it's simple enough, use it as an memorable redirect to somewhere else.
