Single or multiple youtube channels?

I plan on makinig money via making youtube videos and then joining a partnership(for example full-screen). Suppose I upload videos of my cat and make relationship advice videos , should I make a separate channel for both niches or should I upload all my videos to a single channel?

I personally don't like the idea of having only one channel because:

1) If something happens to the channel then all of your income will go with it.
2) I want to look like an expert in the field and if you have videos which aren't related it may take away from your
credibility.

But what if your channel is clean , I mean if your channel complies with YT's TOS.

Personally, I would make 1 channel. If channels with lower authority get flagged too many times by competitors, they can get removed. If you have a channel with many subscribers and authority, it will be VERY hard if not impossible to remove a video by flagging. For example if a video by Smosh even got flagged 100,000 times, think it would be removed? Never

You never know what's going to happen with YouTube/Google. For instance, a few years ago people who thought they were building great sites and linking them in a white-hat fashion were blown out of the SERPS when the Penguin came along. All of their income was lost over-night because they put everything into one site.

Focus on one channel and try gaining as many subscribers as you can before creating another channel.

I agree with Deiwman. Focus your efforts on one channel and grow the sub base. Create goals for views, subs and daily earnings. Basically create a channel to autopilot where very few updates are required. Only then should you branch out and repeat all the steps again for a 2nd channel.
