Single niche

Hi. Is a domain name in blog any important? I found pretty good domain name but her name is as broad as wikihow because I thought - more all around threads - better. Then I read a thread here that a broad niche is not recomended and I'm not sure now what to do. Most of my competitors gets a traffic from search, however they have over 1M per month so they are pretty big.

If you can find an Exact Match Domain name (EMD), it is good but not important for SEO nowadays. It is just an added advantage to your users, as they will remember easily, but not a must. Well, if the domain name is broad, you can just use it but have specific pages for your specific niche. It is always good to niche down. But you can have some information on the other categories and concentrate on the specific niche category of your choice within the same domain name.
