simple silo press wordpress theme

Hi,

There's a thread pointing out that wordpress cannot silo correctly:

However, somebody pointed out to me that the vendor's demo site looks OK:
livedemo.wpsilotheme.com/

I suspect they've hacked the demo's wordpress core, as there is no known way to achieve what the demo site is doing, with just a wordpress theme

Anybody got a test site up?

If so can you PM me a URL so I can see if it can be done for real

No, It's OK

Nobody seems to have used the theme, and the other thread points out that siloing can be done for free using wordpress and free plugins
 
does the URL matter? in the demo site, the url is domain.com/silo-page/article.

in your sample site, the url of the article becomes samplesite.com/article-slug

They've gone down the "directory" silo route - which is great for SEO, but you can get very long URLs e.g.
livedemo.wpsilotheme.com/what-is-silo-design/4-steps-to-siloing-how-to-create-a-silo-site/

I've gone down the "virtual" silo route, and get shorter URLs

If you avoid using long-tail keywords for the silo landing pages and their article pages, then the "directory" route makes sense - but you are at risk of Google slaps - i.e. google may filter URLs out of the SERPs if they are long and keyword stuffed

The site looks like crap to be honest, they could al least made it look good for that kind of money their asking for this, it looks a 10 year old slap that together on a saturday afternoon

Is having long URL's really a problem for your onpage SEO? I have a lot of lead sites with long URL's that are ranking great even without any backlinks at all (only domain age is ranking them) as you can see i am still figuring out if i can use this structure for future lead gen sites :)
 
I am just thinking about a similar thing... Anyone obtained their web page in place?

Sorry, I missed these - hence late replies

Yes, it's a very basic design - and not even "responsive" so not much good for viewing on a smartphone

Having looked at all the various possibilities in another thread (http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...-wordpress-silo-sites-using-free-plugins.html) I've found that this theme is the best technical solution

What I'm working on now is changing the theme into a framework - so that I can use it with "child themes" - so I can knock out silo sites quickly and easily - and have them look professional

There will still be keyword research, site blueprinting, and content writing to do - but the actual "site-building" will be much quicker

Somebody quoted something to me they read somewhere - that using a keyword 3 times in a URL is bad SEO - I suspect it could be true, but who knows?

If you have a URL like redwidgets.com/red-widgets/best-red-widgets.html you may be in trouble - but if you use LSI for blueprinting your site, you are less likely to get something like that

You may be able to use a plugin - I think there's one called "no category base" or something similar - or you could hack the theme to stop it using categories in the URL

I prefer not use "categories" in the URL and now don't use exact-match domains so my URL would be more like:
usingredwidgets.com/best-red-widgets.html

Silo wp is stupid easy... All you do is use either bare or rspare template remove all the links in the template editor. It takes all of 15 mins to completely do. Plugins wont work as siloing wp is theme dependent meaning that a plugin can't do anything. Take the time and learn the basics of IM and learn to at least edit a wp theme...
 
I am the author of that "simple silopress" theme. Yes, it may be ugly but it does exactly what it says: building silos without link leakage and without touching any of the WP core files. Everything is done in the theme files.
