Simple Question About Backlinks

Hi there,

Whilst I'm not entirely a noob (I know SQL, the HTTP Protocol, Javascript, PHP, & whatever you may ask) the fun fact is that I've never had a live website... & I'm feeling like I'm missing some pieces. So would be great If some of you with SEO / LinkBuilding experience could shed some light on this...

A backlink is simply a link from a page that links to another page.

Given that, If I buy (real, qualified) backlinks from sites that already have traffic. I should be receiving a % of their traffic ? This makes sense to me...

For example... with only backlinks (without bothering about SEO) could I be getting 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 daily impresions ? (the more impressions, the more backlinks required)

And could we say or deduce... how many daily impressions could N backlinks bring ?

yeah, if you get links from pieces of content that 1000s of people read each day / week / month there will undoubtedly be a few dozens of people that visit your site through those links.

depends on many factors:

- the total search volume of all keywords that the content giving you the link is ranking for.... an article that only pulls in 80 visitors per month will obviously send you less visitors than an article that gets 2000 visitors per day;
- where the piece of content giving you the backlink is ranking for: an article ranking in top 3 spots of google will probably send 10x-20x more traffic your way via the backlinks than an article ranking on pages 7-10 of google;
- whether or not the owner of the site giving you the link promotes his content via social media or email marketing. Sometimes, these 2 methods can boost the influx of traffic 10x or more if that website has a lot of subscribers that consume the content like hot bread;
- how relevant your backlink is to the content it's inserted into;
- how trendy the topic / keyword giving you the backlink is (sometimes, while a keyword / topic might usually get a steady number of searches, it might still peak at various times for whatever reason, thus sending more visitors your way... especially if your backlink is properly hyperlinked and people reading the content are desperate about finding out more and you provide them with that something);
- how visible and / or clickable your link is inside of the content (believe it or not, some websites do blend backlinks into the content, so you might have no clue that a certain string of words is a backlink, I have seen this in the past on popular sites);

It depends, honestly. It's not exact math, like you get 100 backlinks on 100 keywords that each one has 10,000 monthly searches so you should expect 5000 visitors per month

I have homepage only sidebar backlinks on several sites with 7-10M monthly traffic.
From these links i have ~60 clicks monthly.

Pretty low volume... but it's only from sidebar backlinks. It's unitary, not on scale.
How many backlinks can you have on your sidebar ?

I was asking that because I'm waiting for Wordpress 5.9 to be released. I want to create a block based site, with content generated from scraping (making it unique). And I wanted to know how feasible would be, only with backlinks, to generate a traffic stream of 500 to 1000 daily impressions and above.

With your answers I think that I'll research backlinks services, how much $$$ would it cost me, buy a LEB VPS, & build it. Best to know would be to try it.

You can have backlinks on the sidebar without limits.

Usually buying backlinks services does no positive impact on your rankings.

My whole point was creating -even a mild- traffic stream with backlinks without giving a fuck about rankings / SEO. Stack Up, & funnel visits to a revshare.

I was asking because I've read time ago something like "Having backlinks alone will not drive any traffic", "will be a waste of time", "these services don't work" & more than once... But that never made sense to me, for the reason I explained in the posts above. If a referrer site has traffic, and links to a referring site... At least some people should visit.
