Hey Guys,
I started a new Turkish forum site about marketing a few days ago. My goal is to beat the biggest Turkish webmaster forum.
I want to share with you what I've done so far about SEO:
- First, I created very advanced robots.txt file. This is very important part. I put Disallow to profile pages, help, register, tag pages... I only allowed to index thread and forum pages.
- I remove non-unique threads of members and warn them.
- I setup Google analytics goal to membership process, because I need to measure and analyse every process.
- I removed unnecessary areas in registration form: confirmation password, birthday, location. After 1k members, I will only allow registration with LinkedIn.
- For mobile users, I integrated forum to tapatalk app. Now, people can enter to forum with tapatalk app.
- I also setup Facebook pixel code to register confirmation page, and created conversion type ads (it costs me 50 cent per member).
- I created fake members and set them online. I know it is unethical, but you need to do some dirty things to succeed in business. You need to use social proof.
- I had a blog about SEO and marketing. I moved several content of this blog to forum via 301 redirection.
- I setup Weekly emails (Every monday, people receive last week's popular content to their email)
- I create posts with fake profiles. It is also about social proof. If you create them only with your original account, people just consume your works, because they are consumers. But if they see someone share a nice post, he will also want to create that kind of posts in forum.
- For conversion rate optimization, I setup Hotjar to see visitors' actions etc...
Honestly, I haven't done anything in off-page section. My forum address is domain.com/forum, and blog is domain.com/blog - I only implemented link building tactics (web 2.0 PBN, news sites, niche blogs) to blog pages. But I will start some link building campaigns to forum section too.
