Hello! I read a lot of great threads about Silos for Niche sites, but I need some advice for bigger sites with Wordpress. I read Bruce Clay and other nice post about silos on scratch99 dot com and some great threads from @BassTrackerBoats , @splishsplash , @hekke and @arganrecords
I'm making an Amazon Affiliate site (foreign language) about different appliances. Let's say I want to start small (like a niche site) but with a structure that let me expand with other categories in the future.
Structure:
For example, the main navigation could be something like toptenreviews (home section)
VACUUM CLEANING --- KITCHEN --- LAUNDRY --- Etc. (Pages)
then inside the VACUUM CLEANING page, the main content could be just a grid with the different appliances with pics or just some random content (I don't need to rank this page)
then, with a Custom sidebar in the VACUUM CLEANING page:
Robot Vacuum (sub-page)
Upright Vacuum
Etc..
I want to rank for "Robot Vacuum", "Best Robot Vacuums" and "Cheap Robot Vacuums" (the competition is not so high in other languages)
The main content for Robot Vacuum page could be a buying guide and talk about main brands to rank for that term.
So I will have: mysite.com/vacuum-cleaning/robot-vacuum/
Now, from a custom sidebar for Robot Vacuum page I will have "Best Robots", "Cheap Robots", "Dyson Models", "Rowenta Models", etc linking to posts/subcategories. (more on this now)
Complicating things:
Because will be a mess for a big site to work only with subpages, I'm thinking the following:
Create a category called Robot-vacuums (no-index/follow) and subcategories for brands, and create Posts with the other keywords and long tails I want to rank, best robot, cheap, cordless, dyson d65 review, etc..
Because I can't follow the hierarchy between the pages and post, the permalink for model reviews and "best robots" posts will be: mysite.com/best-robot-vacuum/
**I saw something similar on this site vacuumcleanersv dot com
-Every post inside each category will be interlinked with "related posts"
-Most of the Models Reviews will link to the "best-robot-vacuum" post from the sidebar.
-The "best-robot-vacuum" post will have a top 5 table and small reviews of each model linking to the complete review.
Hope it makes sense
Some questions:
1- Should I try to rank for "Robot Vacuums" and "Best Robot Vacuum" with the same article?
Of course I'm trying to get a better ROI if I save money with content.
2- Can I 301 redirect from the Robot-Vacuums category/subcategories to the Robot Vacuum Page?
3- What's the best way to start? talking about ROI
4- Should I get a job in Mcdonalds?
My idea is to treat every silo like a niche site and reinvest the money I earn with new silos. I have a limited budget. Let's say 500-1000€. I'm paying 6€/500words to my writers
Thanks in advance!
