I used a full model # (almost a straight copy of Amazon's description) as a test for some items on my personal blog, and it gets hits. Didn't do anything other than reviewing a household item with model # all over the article and made a quick youtube video showing how it worked on something with a link back to my post.
I'd go for the second URL-structure. The first seems overkill. If I saw that structure on a site, I'd think "aah, I see what you're doing...", which is probably a bad thing.
The 2nd one also makes much more sense to me. Nice and clean.

With your first option you would be in danger in the long run. Also like another member suggest using the product # will get you a few more hits.
