Im about to do my first Joomla site and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on silos in joomla? I have read little bits and pieces about it but nothing real concrete....


Any input would be appreciated...thanks

Hi, I have lots of experience using Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 but i am new to IM, if you can tell me what a stilo is i may be able to help.

A silo is a way of organizing data...I want to know if there is a proper way to do with Joomla

A silo is a silo the software is not important
Use them in the same way a farmer would
As for linking them every seo guru thinks they know the best way read about it forever
Or copy wikipedia

It's easy to organize data in Joomla using the Sections and categories functionality built into the cMS

Ok now i know what a silo is! Kenpodude is right, sections and categories is the best way to do it if it's just web pages. Hoever, if you have documents that need organising a good plugin is Docman, i think it works with J! 1.5:

Is easier to organize data like this with wordpress or joomla? I working on a big project and it is way to much content to go static so I wanna use a CMS but not sure which one to go with.

I would use Joomla, rather than wordpress. Drupal is another option but not as many themes available.

I am going to do a test Im going to make a joomla site and a wordpress site. Both with original content and im going to SEO them same way and see what gets ranked higher...Only one way to find out

fyi you will need to edit the template overrides so as to make joomlas output a lot more seo friendly, athough it will generate sef urls right out the box, the actual source code it outputs needs tweaking... unless you use something like sh404

problem with a lot of the cool joomla templates they are simply not designed for seo

Their is a program called Themematic. Heard its excellent that helps you build silo structured websites. Let me know if anyone has got it and willing to post it on Rapidshare.

I wonder, if it can be shared by more than one.

I believe this software calls home for info so can't be shared

I'm sure this software came from the SEO gruls charles heflin SEO2020 Russell Rright theme zoom which was renamed to cracken

Now want to know how hot these guys are in the real world

do a whois search on payday-searchDOTcom
