The reason is that the service must be approved here at BHW before it can be put in the signature.

so what you mean? we mods will remove the signatures, which we think its a competitor to ours. wrong accusation.
@op - onehourbacklinks and linklicious sales thread is not approved still. Is it your own service?

It's not my own service. It's owned by member Extropy. We have a deal so I'm helping him out. I assumed since he has advertised them in sig without ever having a problem, they were approved (also since they have been advertised on banners here at BHW.)
Do I need to upgrade to a premium account to allow that kind of advertisement?

Interested in an answer to this as well. I had my website in my sig for years (no link, just the site.com) and it was recently removed. I read the rules and was under the impression if you are JR. VIP you can put a link in your sig so I was going to upgrade. If this is not true, as it seems, then I probably wont though.

I have no idea, whether he got staff approval to promote his product in his signature. If his banner is got approved, then he entitled to have that in his signature. But now i could not see his banner ads. onehourbacklinks thread is still in pending approval. You no need to upgrade for premium member to have signature. jr.vips and donors can have signatures, provided their sales thread should be approved by one of our staff members.

There's a rule stating that you may not promote a product or similar unless there is a thread approved by staff member(s) of BHW.

Unfortunately I do not know the exact answer about that (there was a discussion about it before, can't remember what the staff said), but I think that you are, but I would still contact a staff member to be sure.

Now I'm really confused. Not only has BHW displayed banners advertising OneHourBacklinks, but also in the rules it states:
I don't see why you can post affiliate links, but not links to sites which have been advertised here at BHW.

It seems strange to me too. When I read the rules I was under the impression you could promote anything you want in your sig if you're a donor. I think it should be clarified as I was going to purchase Donor for the sole purpose of links in my sig (no interest in JR VIP forum) and I imagine I'm not the only one; there are probably people who feel mislead here...

That's what I thought. I was under the impression that if you're a regular member, you can only link to your service if you have an approved thread, but if you're a donor, you can link to anything other than another forum.
I've just done a search, I've read the FAQs, Rules, everything.. I still can't find anything that says otherwise. I want to restore my signature since I can't find any rules that I'm breaking, but don't want to risk a ban?

ok let me clear you about signature rules. BHW has strict signature rules, because most of the shitlist threads were opened because of selling service or product through signature. Even i got scammed once. In order to prevent this, no selling of product or service allowed or any 'pm me' thru signature without staff approval.
@wowhaxor - you can have website in your signature, provided it should not sell any service or product. Donors or Jr.vips can have signatures related to affiliate companies promotion.

It's just confusing, because I checked out the profiles of members with the highest post count here, and I found about 5 members in the first 20 with links/banners in their signatures, advertising services which have not been approved here - which would support my previous assumption that Donors can advertise.
And one more thing - this sales thread has been approved:
★★★ LiftProfiles - Verified Publically Viewable Xrumer Profile Links & LinkLicious.me ★★★★
"Linklicious.me" appears 8 times in that post, so it is clearly a part of that service. Since the service has been approved, then linklicious.me has been approved.
And as I mentioned before, OneHourBacklinks.com has been advertised on banners here at BHW, and the thread is still pending approval. In which case, there's no reason I can't restore my signature as soon as it's approved - right?
