footer, header, sidebar links are usually better than other links,
so, that's totally the opposite,
you don't have to use any link shortener here, go with a paragraph with relevant content if you can make it happen

Sitewide backlinks are good if they are natural and relevant. It is better to use them for the secondary keyword rather than the primary one.

You can use it for secondary keyword then the main keyword.

Is the link relevant at all? Won't work if the site is about oranges and you link to a car sales page.

Don't use them directly on your money site unless it's a temporary website. These kind of links are loosing their power[They are still working right now] and it's easy to be detected by Google.

I've been hit by manual pinalty bc sitewide link ..but the problem is because the anchor are kw ..dunno if you use brand as anchor

Side-wide backlinks are Good. One simple reason for this is that you can’t control which niche is using your free theme or plugin.

Relevancy is always key. But, too many backlinks is good for nothing.
