I actually have a few suggestions on how to deal with that.
My wife and I have two highish-end computers on in our home office, so combine that with 120F weather and you've got yourself an oven instead of an office.
So this is what we've done to cool the room down:
- Reflectix on the windows. These are the rolls we bought, but they're unavailable at the moment.
- Two Tower fans. Our computers are up against the walls, so we have one fan in a corner to push the heat from my computer toward my wife's computer, and then we have another fan next to my wife's computer to exhaust the fan outside of the room.
- A screen mesh, this one specifically. We have a cat we don't always want in the office, but we also need the door open to keep the room cool.
- We put elastomeric coating on the roof and Reflectix in the attic, but that's kind of a big job.
- Insulation around the windows, especially around the portable AC exhausts.
- A dual-hose portable AC for when it just gets too hot.
All of these improvements have made it so our office is 73F right now even though it's 112F outside. We even have the door closed with both computers running and it's still pretty cool in here.
