As long as you are building an authority/expert reputation and providing solid and relevant content, you are golden using this wherever and whenever you want. I've done this since they started the feature and it has done nothing but raise my ranks and authority within my business across the board.
Understand this though...if you connect yourself to any crap, it will tank you just as fast.
Also, anyone wanting to attack another user, google has prevented ID theft within google plus features by reporting any false profile posts to their abuse email and they take the links down instantly.
Same thing if someone with a profile attacks you on your content, site, blogs, etc.
Pretty solid little tool.
