I will not hesitate to build handful profile backlinks. As many others said in messages above it will help in diversifying your link profile. Such links have low weightage in Google's eye but it is not bad to make them as they are very easy to gain as well.
Just as a matter of caution - don't create too many of them and shift your focus and energy on building other strong type of links.
