This came up in a thread that I've been participating in. The op was thanking another member for mentoring him and putting him on the road to success.

We already have shitlist, so I'm wondering if this type of list would be helpful in people when people are looking for a service. Perhaps a testimonial thread or something like that?

It gives more air for abuse and deceit, me thinks no. Private praises are enough, and your quality can be expressed through your contributions. No need to win us over by gaffe.

I agree with amillionaire people could get people to make threads boosting there rep. I think the repuation / itrader system is enough (even tho it can be abused) its best checking everyones previous posts, there reputation and member status.

Even then members who have been reputable can still scam. Its a good suggestion but personally i dont think its needed or will be right.

I think that could be very dangerous place. Perfect for scammers really. They will build up a good reputation and then get "voted" in the trusted members list. Once there will scam.

I have been here for nearly a half year now. I have seen several Jnr Vips being banned, even though they were trustworthy. And i have seen several Executive Vips banned for scamming /frauding. If someone would have asked are they trustworthy 99% would have said yes. But obviously they were not.

So i dont think its a good idea:)

"trusted member" list is not the way i would say it, it would make people seem too infallible.

A 'thank you list' would do just fine, where no specific mention of the product is done, but just a public 'thank you' to whomever deserves it. Some mods for example sometimes deserve a clap on the back for stuff they do, but i guess the lounge is big enough.

itrader should help with trust especially since u can review all the threads that involve each itrader point

I can definitely see everyone's point about people abusing it one way or another, but I was thinking about the itrader thing also.

Initially a list of "trusted" members sounds like a good idea. However, when you think about it, just about ANYONE could be construed as trustworthy . . . until they do something that would cause mistrust.

I have seen members of BHW who were held in high rank and esteem end up screwing someone and ultimately wind up being banned. If you JV with a Noob or an Executive VIP, you ALWAYS have some element of risk.

You just have to be ETREMELY cautious when dealing with anyone where your money is on the line. You should always do some preliminary hardcore research and gather as many facts as possible, and NEVER, NEVER give your SS# or any other crucial info to ANYONE without covering your ass as much as possible (Get their personal info and make sure it is verified as genuine).

Anyway, in the end, it still comes down to your gut. You have to take some risks on the road to success. I just hope that your mistakes are small ones.

Cheers! - "Wiz"

maybe a little twist on the idea, a teaching/coaching section?

because its not BST, and many members on here offer legit coaching/courses.
this will be the place where people who are serious about learning will go and learn from some real members who know what theyre talking about.

just an idea

EDIT: just saw the coaching crackdown thread. that covers my concerns with coaching so guess there goes my post :P

"Trusted member" give a false sense of security and may lead to abuse.

How about a 'kudos members' thread, where member are given special recognition for their contribution in a particular field.

I would say you could link it to reputation, but that'll just get abused.

+I've also thought for a while now it would be nice if there was a contributor of the month Jr.VIP upgrade. This might stop the noob bashing and get a few people to part with their older tricks/scripts etc...

u cannot trust anyone in the internet, not even in the real world. trust is what screws shitloads of ppl.

I guess itrader and reps are good enough for it, a thread section can be easily abused by scammers.

you know I voted for the trusted members list...I should have read the entire thread first. I think Wiz hit the nail on the head.

I need to be responsible for who I do business with, I need to do the due diligence and research before I choose to do business with anyone...not just people on this forum.

In the end it's just a matter of making the best decision I can and accept responsibility for it...even if I get screwed.

PS scratch one yes vote and make it a no

No, i'd personally like the entire memberlist to be a "trusted member list" aka everyone here.

The best thing to do is weed out the bad apples as they appear, and try to make that a reality. In general though, i feel BHW has one of the most trustworthy marketing/webmaster communities. Sure there's been problems, but they get handled professionally.

We got iTrader and reputation system already. Isn't that enough?
