With this algo should we start removing our 301 redirects as quick as possible, as its not over and sites are still taking a hammering, looking more like linkings the issue??

What made you think the update is targeting the redirects?

I guess I missed that..I don't recall people complaining about the redirects directly. Has this been an issue for anyone?

No. Why would you start doing things like this at this time? It reminds me of when a stock takes a plunge in the stock market and people then start selling. That's when I either 1) buy more of that stock or 2) do absolutely nothing and wait until the stock comes back up.

A time of volatility is not when you start making rash moves.

You should read your Bible. There's a part that says "Be still and know that I am God" and it's for when there's a storm (if I remember correctly) - basically telling the person to pipe down and settle themselves. Well, be still and know that...um, I don't know. Just be still and wait.

Figure out what to do when another week has passed and the environment isn't so volatile and stormy.

Redirects work just fine. If Google will start to harm redirects, they will affect mostly the big players. So once your site ranks above Twitter, then the days of redirects are over. :-)
