should my proxy have a small subnet mask?

my current proxy provider has this subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

now there are 253 other people who use this subnetwork together with me

wouldn't it be be better if the subnet mask was something like this 255.255.0.0 so if there are abusers in the network it does not reflect to me that much?

Mask is nothing to do with your proxy usage it's a network config for the ip range.

But IP subnet matters if you get IPs from the same range and you use for the same site for the same purpose so it's easily detectable by any good site security system.

So it depends on your purpose you use proxies for.

thanks for your answer, I am using my proxies for youtube, I currently have 20 proxies and 4 different subnets so you suggest that using more than 1 account for each subnet is risky?
Also what happens if the provider hands a proxy to someone in the same subnet and he abuses youtube can that hurt me aswell?

No, you can use multiple accounts on same subnets, not an issue because subnets are standard in the networking so no issue with it.

Normally Youtube does not ban the whole subnet block because it's not a shopping type site but if they wish they can do it.

So normally better to use same proxies you use for the accounts you created it and get proxies from a reputed provider and dedicated ones.
