I'm planning to use Hostgator, but they offer web hosting, VPS and dedicated. Obviously I'm not gonna run any software on the same server as my money site, so should I go with the Web Hosting plan? It says unlimited bandwidth and stuff, what's the catch?

Sorry but what were doing up to now? Didn't you use any hosting? shared, vps and dedi are levels for your needs.

You should decide regarding your monthly visitors (and maybe your future estimate). But shared plans should be OK for you.

For normal sites I'd go for normal web hosting.. Nothing too fancy.

Godaddy is considered one of the most efficient, stable, and popular hosting providers. I use it.

I'd be utilizing Hostgator's service for my domains too. Shared hosting would be just fine, go with it.

I use Bluehost and they're pretty good and cheap.

Pick a good Hostgator plan, that suits your requirement, you would be more than satisfied.

I have been using Godaddy for almost 2 years now and never faced any issues on my 20 odd sites (wordpress) running WPRobot, ReviewAzon and other plugins. However, I faced DNS issues last month so I moved few sites to Godaddy EU servers as those sites were UK targetted that fixed the issue. US traffic was running normal for other sites but accessing them from UK was bit slow so that's why I moved to EU servers.

I paid approx $60 for a yearly hosting which is not that bad considering I can host many sites on them. I consumed 5GB bandwidth and using the full quota of 25 MySqls (I can host multiple wordpress sites on a single DB with a little tweak).
