Should I Stop Blogging in 2023?

Hi,

A bit provocative, but it's a real question.

Launched 4 new websites last year on fresh domains.

SEO is a game for me (I like to find new niches and optimizing content - I pay writers for the rest), I've a full time job in another domain so I don't have so much time.

First results are encouraging and starting to do money on these ones with google ads (sub-optimal, I'll diversify soon):



But to be honest, the majority of my articles don't need high expertise and:
- for 60 to 80% of my articles, cpt 3.5 is doing a similar job
- It's gonna be 95%+ with the version 4
- And probably 99.9% with cpt 5 or another AI

So, I don't really see any purpose to work hard on those websites, except to feed the next generation of AI? Do you?

I do SEO on my part time because it's something fun for me, creating content with AI is boring me (already tried with Jarvis and others).

The question you should be asking is whether you believe people would prefer to have their answers delivered to them right away rather than having to search for them. And, if so, consider how this will affect your potential revenue if people aren't scrolling, clicking ads, and making purchases from your website's affiliate links.

For me, the answer is yes, you should stop blogging unless you have an alternative revenue generation strategy in place that does not rely on ads and affiliate links, you're genuinely passionate about blogging, or you have something of great value that no one else is providing. I'm already observing how people are steering clear of search engines and utilizing AI technology to get the answers they need in a fraction of the time it takes to search for them.

I'm thinking the same, against the next generation of AI, my content on these websites won't be able to compete at all.

I have 1 or 2 websites who can still be usefull vs AI, so better focus on them and just do the minimum work on these 4 new websites.

It's just not worth it to me at this point. There are better business endeavors out there to pursue with the same amount of effort you put into blogging.

And it's not just a coincidence that finding relevant search results on Google has become more difficult, and Google has been delaying the release of its AI technology until this very moment. Google's and other search engines' business models are based on getting you to look for answers on the web rather than finding them right away. They want you to search as much as possible, click on different websites, and click on ads so that it can generate more revenue for them. AI will change the ballpark.

This... I replied to someone else a few days ago in another thread and they got offended and started comparing Chat GPT with Google. The point is - may this version isn't perfect, but the next one will be better, and the one after that will be perfect.

The search game is going to change irrevocably, and its time to get out of blogging and move to something else.

All in all, you can use AI, and choose one or two for manual moderation. I don't really see that much time to devote to it either

Seo practices are not so easy these days and many people use same technique. Try to be different,
