I'm stuck at this dilemma. I have a two month old Amazon review site for a group of pretty expensive products. The main keyword I'm targeting only has 800 monthly searches but there are 30 product keywords that range from 100-600 monthly searches. The thing is that I have like 4-5 competitors that are in page 1 and 2 for most of the 30 keywords I'm targeting. The strange thing is that they all look like each other with the same type of format and style of writing which is weird. So far, I have only made 1 sale in 2 months with around 230 clicks to my Amazon linked pages. This is after around 40 hours of work writing, rewriting reviews and general articles. I have also spent $200 on it on various things like domain, hosting and SEO. I try to make my reviews different from everyone else's by spending a lot of time on each one to make sure they are factually correct.

My old plan was to keep writing new articles every day and improving my old ones to make my site more appeal but I'm starting to think this path is going to lead me no where. Should I abandon this site and find a new niche with little to no competitors? Any advice is welcome :)

It is not surprising at all to see somebody attempt to corner a particular niche in this manner. This can be one major player and often is, but quite frequently it is someone who simply has a strong affiliate program, and it is the affiliates who use a template and essentially keep re-creating the same or a similar site. SEO is exactly the correct direction to move in, and exploring another niche will help as well, but you should do or get someone to do a comprehensive analysis and backlink profile.

You may find that a well crafted organic SEO campaign can push you up above your competitors pretty easily especially if their content is low quality, and their backlink profiles are not strong.

Competitors can easily eat your idea or site out of the battle, but it's all part of the game.

You either grow fast before they get to you or catch up to their level.

Thanks for the feedback! What would the advantages of making multiple sites for the same niche. Aren't they essentially cannibalizing their own sites? And do you think higher price products >$200 have lower conversion rates on Amazon as well?
