You can argue all you want... I'm sure I never said not to. Your comments though, do show that you have little life experience, and that is a huge aspect when it comes to making life decisions.

If I was 16 and had little to no life experience I might do the same but at 16 I was working in a bakery getting up at 3 AM to show up for work at 4 AM for 1.80 per hour and thought I had the best life going.

I can get a part time job of 36 days a year that wipes off student loans up to $50,000. The extra pay during first year of training is around $8500. Yearly pay for that part time job is around $2500 more for having a degree and by the 10th year it is around $5000 more.

For the full time job I will get it is an extra $3000 for having a degree, after 4 years I am eligble for a promotion(requires a degree) that pays $20,000 more. After 2 more years I am eligible for another $15,000 increase. The job still pays for overtime after the 2nd promotion. During the 7th year at just 10 hours per week overtime it is an extra $12,000 a year.

The total being somewhere around $52,000 more per year, or higher if I ask for more overtime.

I would also have more than enough time to own and operate a business.

Until the next recession comes along and u get laid off stuck with ur shitty loans and suddenly all the "assets" u invested in get taken from the back .. Happened to so many of my family members I will make sure I don't make that mistake.

I wont lose either the part time or the full time job. During a recession there is just a hiring freeze of new people.

I love your mindset, kids. Same mindset as me. Although that mindset don’t come to me that early. I used to study at NUS (National University of Singapore) as foreigner. It is the first rank university in Asia according to Times ranking. But I don’t like it there. And I have some soul searching period after that. Now I am doing ecommerce . First as a dropshipper. Now starting to sell my own goods. I recommend to start experimenting selling your own goods. Buy wholesale online and sell retail offline. Start from small and slowly scale. Do face to face marketing. It is an ancient skill and still very valuable today

Let's give you some perspective but I suspect I am tossing pearls out where I ought not.

An attorney right out of college owes 120K in loans.

Gets a job where he is underpaid and only makes 100.00 per hour.

That is 4,000 a week or 17,320.00 a month (4.33 X 4,000).

Uncle Sam takes his fair share and he ends up with 10,000 a month in net income.

He lives like a regular joe on 4K a month and ends up with 6K extra.

20 months later he is debt free.

But, forget that... you want to be self employed right?

I know a little about buying businesses as I have bought and sold my fair share over the past 40 years.

You take that 120K and buy a business... odds are is that all you are buying is a "job" that pays you in the 40k - 45K range (those are legit stats). Then you have to work 65 - 80 hours a week for your 45K.

I'd ask you which is better but your judgement is clouded by your limited experience which seems to be negative.

Working for the man is not a bad idea all the time... in fact it is much better for most.

I hate arguing with old people.... National Starting Salaries. Law school graduates working in the public sector earned less than their peers in the private sector. According to a 2011 article in "U.S. News & World Report," the average starting salary earned by lawyers in the public sector was$49,831. Now take that with 21% inflation and taxes and realize that nowadays even doctors that come out of college don't even get payed over 100k and i am taking this from people who went to medical school so u can take ur nonsense elsewhere. The reason why I bring up doctors is because they are believed to make a lot of moneys but thats not true and same goes for other jobs like that... Well thats just in the beggining but they will make a contract with you so they can make sure u never leave ;)

Real life number say something different. I'm not some 16 year old kid who relies on magazines (7 year old publication is your source, really?) for info... I know people who run law firms and work in law firms.

I will fail an exam because I disagree with schools and how they decide to guide you in life not the teacher B) ! I am truly mad that older people make it a custom to fallow the route thats made by a few old dudes in the government! And I am not complaining if I was really that big on complaining I would not take the path that I have chosen I would just give in and take a job just like they want me to :)!
