Should I run?

Or water aerobics type exercises where you get resistance on the water while exercising.

Start off walking before jogging, less impact on your knees. Do half a mile for first 2-3 days then gradually increase the distances.

This is good advice.

Until you lose weight, best do other stuff to burn calories until ready to start jogging.

Like others have said. You should really talk to a health care professional.

But if that's not for you. Then you need to start off slow and work your way up.

Start with daily walks and dial in your diet until you shed some of the initial weight. Jogging is way to high impact.

Stay away from all those fad diets. Look to cut out junk food and sugars the best you can. You'd be amazed how much you can lose just by cutting out sugar all together. I lost 15 kg when I did that.

Then focus on eating a balanced diet. Chicken, fish, eggs and beef are all good sources of clean protein. Balance them with veggies and your good to go.

Best of luck.

Swimming is better if you have a bum knee. But the trick is to actually do it, so give it a go and stick to it!

Hi,

I have osteoarthritis of the knee. My age is 30. I'm over weight. Should I run/jog everyday or should I do something else, like swimming?

I need some exercise routine now.

Thanks.

Walk for 2-3 hours a day, you'll see a huge difference if you keep your nutrition in tact... walking is great its very low on the body in terms of your ability to recover quickly, doesnt ruin your knees and is very easy to do especially if its a nice day outside.

So you claim 'stuff like stop eating meat is bullshit' here even though you've admitted you have no idea what osteoarthritis even is. Don't get triggered and your emotional and block-headed political standing on meat--eating get in the way of objectivity here. Mindless, brash, futile comments like this have no place here when we're talking about helping someone with a very distressing illness.

Speaking objectively, it's essentially a degenerative disease effecting joints anywhere in the body. Left untreated it can spread to other parts of the body, which tells you what?.... it tells you that it's due to imbalance in (actually quite simple) biochemical processes. As a result, the body is unable to cope with inflammation caused, resulting in the condition. This is nothing like tying to nurse someone with a torn ligament. This is a biochemical problem, not a physiological one.

Your broscience cliches are actually very dangerous. Telling people you can lose weight with a simple caloric deficit is easy and all well and good, but what will happen when someone all ready burdened with chronic ph imbalance are potentially made worse.... sure you will lose weight on a simple caloric deificit, but then it becomes a little more complicated than that....
in this case your body will begin to mobilise fat to use for energy which means a dire surge in fatty acids being carried to all tissue around the body including you guessed it, to joints already afflicted with severe inflammation, making them worse. And what happens then.... when you're adding insult to injury by eating 'foods', meat, eggs, sugar, starch, salt which invariably produce acidity. It sounds like a recipe for disaster doesn't it? That's because it is. You might lost some weight but you'll be damaging your joint further too if your kind of advice is followed, to a person already suffering from a severe ph imbalance.

TF you talking about. Hope you provide shovels for all the crap you are spewing.

It sounds like something a deranged lunatic would scribble on his wall. Lol.

Get a stationary bike, start low, and gradually increase the level. But it's better to talk with your doctor.

First, you must make consultations with the doctor! Then, some proper diet and for the beginning just walking and some light exercises, stretching. Proper food regime 70%, exercises ~20% and 10% relaxation and sleep. Don't push yourself hard just be persistent!

Well, I think you should start by swimming and then walking for a little while. Maybe running will cause you a lot of pain or you will get tired really fast.
