Main keyword +90k monthly searches many related keywords ~100k.

Top rankers don't seem to have very good backlinks. The one in 8th place is a Wikipedia article.

It's hard to say if you can bring higher quality backlinks then give it a try.

Yea.. That's the thing. I am not a marketer. I’m a developer/tech-guy. So I’ll probably be able to build some neat tools and products around those keywords.
And my SEO knowledge is purely on page, minus content writing
