Should i pay wordpress 240$/year to install theme?

I just downloaded a theme from Envato but when trying to install it asked me to upgrade to a business plan for 240$.

Is that the only way to upload the theme to WordPress ? Any alternatives?

I have never used Wordpress before and thought it's free lmao

Wordpress is open-source and free. You are probably referring to wordpress.com which is a sort-off managed Wordpress service if you want their premium features you have to pay for them.

However, given the open-source nature of WordPress.org, you can run it on your own webspace (e.g. Bluehost or Siteground) and install the theme via the Wordpress admin dashboard for free. You'll obviously have to pay for webspace, but this is probably a better and cheaper solution for you.
 
Your question is confusing are you using wordpress.com or are you asking if you should pay 240 for the theme?

No i have the theme i'm talking about wordpress.com, sorry for the confusion

By webspace you mean hosting is that correct ? So i will have to download wordpress and upload wordpress and the theme to the hosting and i can customize and manage it through there.


Sorry if i sound lame i have always build my websites the old school way. I have only used bootstrap framework
 
Go to Siteground, buy hosting there. Like $150 a year. Awesome support and comes with Wordpress install.

That's what you want.

All you need is to get hosting, that's like $10/month or $80/year. Set up wordpress and upload your theme
 
It all comes down to two things, one is that does the theme has what you're looking for? and secondly can you afford to pay the yearly membership. if they can charge such amount, i believe it's a good theme with tons of features that are hardly found in cheaper options where you pay only a one time fee.

Yeah I meant hosting the website with something like Bluehost, Siteground, WPengine etc. They all offer one-click solutions to install Wordpress. Usually, you can also just reach out to their support to do this for you. Should be super easy :)

Then you upload the theme and are ready to go (via the Wordpress backend). At that point you can manage everything via the Wordpress backend, also stuff like customization.

Few more questions if you don't mind.
After setting it up is there any GUI where I can see statistics or i have to use tracking software?
I guess I can install plugins as well?
Should I install WordPress updates manually?

1. You could add a plugin to do that, the hoster might also show you those statistics. However, I'd just use Google Analytics. Either you add the code yourself or get a plugin for it. There should be enough free options.

2. Yeah you can install plugins, make sure not to overdo this. Keep your website clean and fast.

3. You can do this out of the wordpress backend, it should just be a single click. Depending on which hoster you choose, this might also happen automatically, with your permission.
 
If you like to build your own websites old school style wordpress.org is the right for you, you just have to pay for a host, the other one is self-hosted wordpress.com
 
Thanks to everyone I checked hostings and I liked the siteground so I will sort it tomorrow.
Still lots of questions but I know HTML/CSS/PHP so I'm confident it won't be a problem I will learn as I go.

I was just confused cus I have never used WordPress before and i have read it's free CMS.
And now I understood there is .com and .org lmao

Are you hosting your site on worpress.com?
Don't do this mate.
Install wordpress on a host and then upload your theme.
And you don't need to pay the extra money.
