It doesn't do anything for the algorithm, but it can possibly help with social proof I suppose.
 
Only real likes and comments from genuine users can positively impact your video, unless you want to create an illusion with fake social proof
 
it helps but use a good ammount, I mean like you have 20 followers use maybe 100 or 50 to push a little bit more, no go ith 20 followers third video and with 1M views and likes, it helps but if is done wrong can damage your channel.
 
For some successful channels, yes, it worked, but use it moderately.
 
Likes and comments can help along with RAV Views, HR Views and Ad Views.

In some niches, it can help a lot. But if the keyword has high search volume and there is too much competition , then you cannot rank with this approach.
 
You need to improve watchtime on the videos to rank them up. Likes mostly will be deleted by youtube and usually they don't help at all.
