Hello,

I was wondering how much it matters if the majority of your backlinks are from countries outside of your target country?! For example, my Audience is primarily the UK ( and I've set this location in the Webmaster tools). But most of my backlinks are coming from US blog sites. I'm aiming for good quality links, but not really doing much for my rankings at the moment. Having said that my website is only 3 weeks old on Google, but feels like I'm doing everything right but not getting very far...could it be to do with my backlinks?!

Personally I dont think you really have to be country specific for your linking. We are ranking clients from other countries with links from the USA etc, I havent seen anything that makes me think it really makes a difference. As long as there quality links, you should be just fine.

Unless you are a local business..

I havne't seen much difference in ranking geo location site..I still build links the same way as if I am doing for USA site..May be I will add some .co.uk web2 sites or get some links from UK directories

try to get some UK links, but keep building international links as well!

Region is never a matter for your link building. all you need to concern is with the quality of your link building. The linking must be done with the sites which has good reputation and authority. the link juice you attain from them matter but not the region..

Dont bother about the region jar, just make note of the amount of link juice you can obtain from them. getting 100 of links from bad sites will never match single link for reputed site. so region is not a matter for getting links. and make sure that you are getting links from niche related sites.
