Hi, i have some background with HTML/CSS and i'm thinking of ditching it and learn wordpress?

So what is more easier and more profitable?

Use css with WordPress, actually all three work well together along with some basic PHP which helps

You should learn both. Learn HTML/CSS and javascript first. JS is important.

There really isn't much to learn in wordpress, it's very simple. If you know HTML and CSS it can greatly help you modify wordpress to meet your goals. Try to get good at all of them.

Do you want to earn money in IM or as a web designer?
A little CSS and HTML knowledge is useful no matter what, but only the amount you'd pick up in a few hours with a decent tutorial/W3 site.

Being a web designer means needing clients (unless you are going to build them for yourself - but why would you do that if you weren't a good IM pro?)

It's not that they go well together, they are embedded.

WordPress is structured in php, but the php presents the html and css to the browser. You can't really dump it.

Wordpress is the combination of HTML, CSS, PHP & some JS. I would like to suggest you to mastering with HTML5 and CSS3 and Bootstrap. I am sure you know the demand of mobile visibility.
