I’m in my mid twenties and work ten hours a day almost everyday in a dead end job. I always hoped that IM and maybe doing front-end dev work would he a way out and provide with a lot of opportunities in the future, but rveryone is now saying it will be worthless on five years, front end will be forst to go amd so on. I just think what’s the point?

The best way to get out of a dead-end job is education. There is no down-side to learning a new skill.

Learn what you are passionate about,
I've been in I.T for a very long time! They have said its over for XYZ each and every year! Don't belive it. JS is used to intertwine services and modules for all sorts of applications. You will not be able to insert some automation between all of that for years to come. Yes, it will affect jobs, not it will not end these jobs altogether, it will just change the jobs. You still need to understand coding in order to properly prompt and use the automations. Learn it!
On another note.....I would suggest learning API management. That plus the Javascript would buy you close to 10 years. The thing is, I.T is a never ending journey regardless of ChatGPT type services or not, you will always have to grow with the industry.

Yes or I prefer if he goes with any product based like Salesforce Apex/Lightening. Definitely his javascript skills help him

Always keep learning, it's never worthless. I've been making a living thanks to Javascript for almost 20 years now, and I don't see it dying anytime soon.

Right! Thats exactly what I mean! Those technical enterprise applications will always need some hands-on scripting for quite some time to come.
When VMware come onto the scene they said the physical infrastructure was dead and gone. When cloud computing became popular, they said VMware was dead and gone. Now we come full circle and find most companies like a mixture of both so that they can control their own access and manage sensitive data. All that being said, things like AS400 and mainframes are still here and companies can't get off them. The 6-12 months it takes to learn something like Javascript will be well spent.

this and + when you learn javascript, you are not learning a language, you are learning how to program and it will be easier for you to build on top of it and improve in your career.
don't stop learning, and focus more on learning now than on making money, it will pay off better for your future.

Fuck giving up, im in my early twenties, i've been pushing for a couple of years now, BUT I WONT GIVE UP. And many times have the process felt hard or boring but don't forget about your motives, eyes on your scope! Within 5 years you could have made enough money to not give a feck if js is relevant or not.

When you will learn js, you can easily switch to some another language in the future (python, go, php). Also js gives you possibilities to work as dev who is doing mobile app (react native, ion etc). So it is definitely worth to learn. Lots of possibilities, and different directions in which you can grow. I know, that it is hard to learn something when you are working, but in spare time you can do some pet projects, which are interesting for you. That will help you to polish your knowledge and to grow as developer. Good luck, friend
