Should i go with EMD or not ?

Hi guys, as my little experience grow up, i get some confused about EMD, we always know that EMD are better for ranking like dogtraining[dot]com
But lately, i saw some people say that EMD does not still better for ranking non any more, and it's better to choose a brand name or any name for your website like dogsgate[dot]com or something like that.
So i got confused , i have a keyword in EMD and .net is available, what should i do? go with it? or it may hurt my ranking in google and i should go with public or brand name for the domain?

OKAY i will explain it in some details, my domain will looks like e. g. easytrainingfordogs[dot]com
and i will build my site on 2 main keywords: easy training , training for dogs
What about that ?

if there is already one site EMD ranking for your keyword then you should go for a partial match +short word

I'd use the EMD IF it's brandable. .com is usually the better route than .net or other tlds

Thanks for replaying, but sorry, i didn't understand this sentences "then go for authority sites"
What do u mean of authority sites, and anyway if i choose a brand name or public name, and Google find that i don't work hard, it will punish me too, so i think that punishing sites doesn't depending on choosing brand name in domain or choosing EMD, and sorry for my bad English.

Pick EMD, those still rank really good, they just doesnt rank anymore with thin content.

An EMD's power to rank fast has minimized after several algo updates. Prior to the EMD update, Google has given EMDs a good boost even if those sites don't have lots of quality backlinks. Whether you have an exact match or just an ordinary domain, what matters most is still the overall strength of the domain wherein those ranking on the top got high volume of quality backlinks. The quality of links will lead to a better site.

Let me ask, what is more important EMD or the lengths of the domain name? which one you'd go for and why?

It doesn't carry the same power it did 12 months ago. Don't spend too much time on the domain name.

I have a 1 month old EMD spot 9 for the exact word . 250 words of content a few bookmarks . 2 EMD with tons of links held the tops spot forever and now cant get them off position 3 or 4. Not sure what the issue is. At first EMD will rank ,long run looks like google is giving them the slap for no reason . we will see what happens to my new one

Don't overoptimize for your main keywords. By having your main keywords in your url, your title, your articles, your anchored links, you are asking to be Penguined.... and you probably will be. What was once considered good SEO, is now a trip straight to the sandbox. Especially true of commercial keywords, and especially true if all your anchors are the same. Anchor diversity is key.

I really think at first it works but not any better then have a page with the KW in the URL of the page after a month or two.The only reason why I got another EMD is because its product specific and I got lucky

I don't think there is much difference whether you go with EMD or not. EMD as has been mentioned before worked really well before the updates. It shouldn't give much of an advantage in the rankings anymore. I would go with branding and starting an authority site, time invested in that with proper execution should pay really well in the long run

The trend is definitely towards EMD not mattering very much, although it could get you extra traffic with a dotcom. If you have to go out of your way to get it, then it wouldn't seem worthwhile, and if it is a dotnet EMD then it's not really worth pulling the trigger on.
