It's over 10 years old and just expired, its in dmoz? but the name is a little weird. No hyphens or numbers 5 character.com ?

Just a quick advice, never ask on a public forum about whether you should or you shouldn't buy a specific domain (I mean don't name the exact domain, just details)

@Madruga!

I think you was understand it wrong he was told that his domains is "5 Characters with .com" TLD he was not gave the domain name.

And told the details of the expired domain.

Really need more info.

Without knowing the domain, you will need to do some research, for example:

Is it indexed?
Does it have a history?
Ranking for any keywords?
Backlinks?
PR?
EMD?
Brandable?
Trademarked?
Price?

Good luck.

Do a little research on what was that domain used before check webarchive and see if previous owners could monetize it. Personally I found quite difficult to use a weird domain and make it a BRAND that people will remember nowadays. thats why I prefer to go with keyword rich domains.

The only advantage I can see is that you can blast the domain using SB and mass promotion as ages domain are hardly deindexed/sandboxed.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll see if I can start a blog on it!

Got it now, but do you know what's funny? Someone bought today 5character.com hahaha =)) I guess whoever that was, got it in the blink of an eye xD

Haha, I can assure you that was not me. Also, it was a consulting firm, but a foreign one. Is the DMOZ listing worth anything?
