I have about 15,000 followers combined through Pinterest,Twitter and Tumblr.I am considering making a amazon niche site for woman's clothing and shoes. Is this profitable? I figured because females love shopping in general this could be something that would work pretty well.Anybody have any experience in this?

I would say that if your social media followers are mainly women (or content that attracts mainly women) then go for it. It never hurts to try, worst case you fail and you learn something along the way. I also wouldn't stop with just social media.

I think you should definitely monetise your audience! Before you do, however, here are a few things you should do.

    Pre-Affiliate Phease
Before you monetise your traffic, try to gather information on your audience and create a demographics. Just take a small sample of your audeince and determine their average: race, gender, nationality, income level, and education level if you can (although, some of those can be deemed irrelevant).

One other thing you should determine is your audience's activity level. How active is your audience on your pages? Having 100,000 followers with only 1,000 of them being active is not as good as having 10,000 followers with 9,000 of them being active.

    Affiliate Phase
Once you've gathered sufficient data, compare it to Amazon's current shopper demographic, which includes:

    • Older (but not old)
    • Childless
    • Median income of $60,000 a year

    Post-Affiliate Phase
Continue monitoring your traffic to see if it's converting well. If it isn't, try advertising a different style of clothing or alter your ad copies.

I wish you luck in your monetisation endeavour.

From what I hear, amazon converts great on pinterest due to it's demographic (US women over 20+).

However, pinterest has been cracking down on affiliates and any amazon link will be replaced by their referral link. I'm not sure though but that's what I heard not too long ago.

You can also try promoting CPA offers. Health offers usually convert pretty good with this kind of demographic.

Another idea is send them to a site monetized with adsense ads.

Well At first I was going to monetize with Adsense and then I thought I could make more money with amazon.I even made a site about food recipes and took it down because Adsense was making me such a low amount.I would say 75% of my followers are woman.Should I make a website that is broad? Or specific?

well I can tell you that Women's shoes, hand bags, makeup and tkae stuff sells very well, my wife sells that stuff on her facebook account to all her friends. she usually buys like 300 or 500 pieces per product in a shipment and by the end of the month she's sold most of it. so yeah it makes money, makeup has the biggest markup. but what moves the fastest is the fashion accessories.

15,000 followers is really not so bad, at least you can try. And think about some promotion activities

Why not, you've got nothing to loose, if you have enough on pinterest and they're active and not bots it could really work well for you as a higher number of users on pinterest are women. Just make sure you don't put the affiliate link in your pinterest posts, but link to your site where you have the affiliate links.
