Hey guys, just looking for a little advice/strategy.

I have a website that is in an insanely competitive area - travel.
I have started doing some pages on the site that are there just to try and rank those pages with low competitive keywords. I think this will pay off. I've learned a lot here about creating niche pages and link building etc.

My question is, for my main site.

Should I order one of the link building services offered here on BHW (some seem very good) - for my main domain. The main domain won't rank in the top pages of google, I know, but I'd like to increase the domain authority and page authority of the site. Would some of these link building services do that? Right now the domain authority is 40, the page authority is 43 and the Mozrank is 5.12. Google pagerank 0. - The site is 7 moths old.

links are good but be careful what you buy .... there is a lot which will not help and only cost.
so select what you need and what can be good ....

Totally depends on how fast you need to rank the site. Is it a churn and burn? If yes, go with SAPE or any similar
Whitehat? - Better order a tiered linking service with more reviews, figure out how they do. It is always better to do your SEO yourselves.

Don't focus on your homepage first. Get those inner pages ranked for the long tails, and even that will probably require a bit of link building.

Once the inner pages are ranking, they will be funneling some link juice to the home page naturally.

THEN start building up the home page.

PM me if you need specific help.

This is the opposite of advice that I have heard, but I like it better. Can you elaborate?

Link to your homepage first with brand anchors. Get authoritative links first. Once you have those then start linking to internal pages.

Choose the network packages on this forum wisely. Don't go nuts with it and just start buying hundreds of links from day one.

If you really want to boost your DA then purchase links from a PBN. High PR Home Page links will do the trick and is a great investment if you're looking to build an authority site.

As you can see you're getting differing advice here....and that's normal. Each SEO has a strategy...there are tons of ways to work it, the problem is once you start developing one, stick with it, don't give up in 7 days because you haven't reached #1....

Don't overdo your linking at first. The recent updates are all about tightening up link control and google wants to set some examples by publicly demoting some sites in order to spread some fear on the streets. Take it easy at first, better go slow first and not have to recover 6 months(or worse) off a penalty later....

    Sure.

Obviously, there are lots of factors to ranking a website. Some of the big ones are:

    * Relevance to the search - determined in large part by on page factors
    * Authority of incoming links - high PR/PA/whatever links
    * Relevance of incoming links - links from the sites on the same subject
    * Bounce rate - partially measures how well your page actually answered the user's query
    * Social signals

When you build up your inner pages first with relevant content and authoritative & relevant links, several things happen.

First, it's faster to start getting traffic. The lower competition long tails are easier and faster to rank. So you bring in visitors that much sooner. I'm sure you know the magnitudes of difference between page 2 and page 1 on the SERPs.

Second, assuming you have content that creates a low enough bounce rate, the users will click through other links on your site. This increases the trust your site has in the SE's view. This will start to funnel your inner page link juice to your main page (where a majority of your guests will go after landing page).

Third, now when you start working on your main page with more difficult keywords, you aren't starting from zero. That page already has a certain amount of trust and authority in the SE databases. Authority and relevance scores do not build linearly, they are exponential. This is the same reason a PR5/PA50 link is worth several times a PR4/PA40 link. Maybe think of it like a snowball. By building up the easy inner pages first, you are starting with a medium size snowball on the home page instead of starting with nothing.

This is basically the reason why silo structures are so effective.

This is also why I have changed our PBN structure around so that every link comes from a relevant, authoritative place instead of just authoritative. But that's another story I guess.

Great advice guys - some additional info.

This is definitely not a churn and burn strategy. Its a long term site build and hold that I want to keep for the long term. Some solid advice to follow up on so far. Thanks!!!!!

Make sure you do proper research on the seller and even pm them asking them about there service so you can get the best information possible before committing to a link building service, some of them are very good SEO link building services.
