i made youtube a channel about 1.5 months ago and i uploaded a few 40 minutes videos and the retention rate is pretty bad people only watch like 3 minutes of it, and i started uploading 10 minutes video and the retention rate is getting better. So should i delete the old long videos? because i heard your ranking gonna drop if you start deleting videos

I noticed it’s about attention span unless people are extremely interested they just want a quick video

yea its a detailed manual/tutorial type video, people are not going to watch the whole thing

I would leave them up as they can help with watch time but 10 minutes is ideal if you wanted to produce longer videos.

It does feel like most people would rather see shorter videos due to attention spans.

I heard it said longer videos gets a higher watch time which is a ranking factor. I also hear Youtube likes longer videos. However with people's short attention span nowadays, no one is going to sit and watch a hour long video unless it is a movie LOL

Personally I would leave the videos longer and continue to post 10 minutes videos, you never know that the old videos end up in the suggestions

Nobody wanna see 40 minutes , uae shoet videos
