I've been doing this blog for well over a year now.

The keyword has 100k seaches per month according to google and 250k results with quotes. And the first page results are mostly crap, videos and low PR sites.

I've been adding some comment links, more or less related high PR links and such for quite some time and I got from position 700 to 80, and as far as I can remember I always got just a few 100 searches per day. Will it get much harder from now on or should I just keep going for another year or so? It feels kinda good, though. Should it?

Eventhough I don't update it too often, I'm getting kinda fed up with it. And believe it or not, there's not that many content on this issue out there, so I can't even rewrite let even downright copy any of it. Besides, I want to keep this one clean anyway.

Damn, there I go again, telling my life's story... anyways, could you please just tell me if there's some sort of exponential trend for getting on the first page, I haven't really been keeping track of my stats but it sure feels like there is :)

P.S. don't tell me to build a linkwheel around it. Because I'm not gonna do it.

Are there any adwords ads showing up for this search term? If there are and you see the same campaigns running for some time, that will tell you whether it's worth continuing to pursue or not.

As far as improving your results in the serp's is concerned, I would reverse engineer the above the fold 1st page listings. If you don't want to leverage the linkwheel method, at least register your keyword user names (linking back to your blog) on those high pr web 2.0 properties that have do follow links and post real comments to content related to your blog topic. Take advantage the new tools you can use in google's search results. Just click on the Show Options link to the top left and you can discover all sorts of valuable info for your search term, your competition, etc.

I hope this helps you.

Don't aim too high. Learn how it works and take it from there.

and what exactly do you have against building linkwheels?? They seem to work really nice

I love linkwheels,
