How are people choosing their domain names in 2013?

are you using key products that your promoting? EMD? Are you using a mix of unique and specific search "blahblahblah-swimming costumes" or do you aim for a brand name that has no relevance to what your selling or promoting?

Would be good to hear your opinions, thanks

i use some exact match domain but not very long and spammy emd.

I pick my domain below 15 characters (but seriously I prefer 10 characters below or 2 words)

I dont pick 3 words or more.. Looks spammy.

And If the EMD are taken, I use some prefixes.

the best thing in my opinion is to put the customer before the SEO. id choose an easy to remember and easy to type domain rather than a domain with keywords. of course you need to have a domain related to your niche but i think a lot of advertising and a catchy but short domain might mean you dont necessarily need a domain related to the niche.
