Analyze the domain and check the backlink profile. Redirecting will pass link power but not 100%, I suggest to try for a direct link.

Only thing is here you are not buying domain.

Domain is not in your control.

So I do not think it is worth it.

For $100 you can get nice link from sellers on BHW.

if site is niche relevant so its OK. But check traffic and back links of the website first.
 
Yes, 301 redirect is good, make sure the domain is genuine and no spam.
 
Of course, if the website giving away 301 re-direct is genuine ( devoid of any seo red flags) I think it makes sense. I'm all in for such an offer!
 
Taking into account the redirects, this sounds more than a little suspicious. I would say that you should pass. The chance of that backlink functioning as advertised isn’t very high.
