domain created in 2004
no backlinks
no drops

would it offer an advantage in terms of ranking?

Edit: domain will not drop. Owner is going to transfer it to me, domain age will remain.
Edit2: there is an existing site, it has 10 indexed pages. the homepage would probably have to go because it's not user friendly. The other pages, I can probably keep just for the sake of search engines, but I won't show them to my visitors.

Unless you can recreate some of its old content, it won't bring you any advantage.

The forum prevents short answer responses but the answer is NO. When you can buy a domain with high PR and authority for the same exact price.

Domain age resets when the domain drops.

the domain is not going to drop. The owner will transfer it to me. The domain age will remain the same.
guys, I was under the impression that google trusts older sites, therefore, they are easier to rank?

If you found an aged domain for $10 then it's a great buy. If you're paying $1000 because it's an aged domain, then it's not worth it unless an aged site comes with it.

OK, there is an existing site, it has 10 indexed pages. What other information do you guys need to tell me whether or not I should buy it?

So it is not yet dropped. If it's cheap, then yes, go for it.

I'm sure it will have some Domain authority already, check it's DA if it has already any Good DA then it would be beneficial if you recreate it.

Check the domain well with ahrefs before paying a lot of money for it is the best course of action. I mean if it is cheap enough then do not even worry about it and pick it up.
