So my sites over 2 months old and only gets 5 hits a day. I don't have any back links and I have a lot of competition for the keywords I use. Someone on eBay is selling 40,000 backlinks for $10 and I think its a good price. Is it worth going black hat? Or should I stay white hat and manually create backlinks myself the legitimate way? If I buy back links will it affect adsense?

I just bought backlinks from fiverr today for my 2 week old side. It wound do nothing to adsense, but depending of how the provide the service panda and penguin might be the problem later on.

I'm a noob, so you should wait for replies from more advanced members, but here is my take on it.

You can go "black hat" but when it comes to using this to your main/money site, you have to be very careful.40,000 backlinks are too many for your main site and easily raise a flag. These links are meant for "lower tiers" of a link pyramid. Basically, you make many layers of "fake" sites so that when you give many numbers of links your money site is safe. If you don't know about link pyramid, you can just search Google (probably easier that way than search here - because there are more advanced information here if you just search the term).

Again you could go "black hat" but don't link directly to your money site!

40K links to a 2 month old site is not going to help. It is not the quantity it is the quality. Keep adding great content to your site and focus on getting real traffic from interested visitors. You can get a lot more traffic by putting up good content on other sites like:
facebook
youtube
pinterest
reddit
twitter
squidoo

If you make a nice page / post / video on all of these sites you will get real visitors.

Also join as many related forums for your niche as possible and contribute to the community. After you have made enough posts make one with a link back to your site. This will bring more great visitors that are interested in your niche.

Whatever you do don't start spamming the internet with crappy links, these will eventually do more harm than good.

As cliche as it is, this says it all.
A small number of real visitors that are visiting your site intentionally is far better then a large number that are not.

Quality over quantity, always.

I'm assuming you just want to spend money and have a more "hands-off" approach. If so, then first off, you should not be sending 40,000 links to your main site. End of story. Secondly, you should just search out for a good SEO provider either on WF, Google, or here on BHW. If you want, I could refer you to a few services I use myself if you are lazy. Your best bet would be to do everything manually yourself though as you will gain experience and plus, you would know everything that's going on with your own site.

Thanks guys for all of the help, I'm currently using yahoo answers to build up backlinks

Hey, I just tried the yahoo answers, but it doesn't give an actual link. Just the text, does it take HTML code to turn it into a clickable link, or does that not matter?

You pretty much just use BHW SEO Providers that have positive feedback after the newest update. OR You could build no backlinks and just quality content and end up on page 1 for Google SERPS for a keyword.

As long as the source is good and they are not low quality links then yes picking up some good links can only help your site

Build few backlinks yourself by article directories, web 2.0 , social bookmarking etc . Bulk of backlinks for a newer site is not a good idea, it may cause your very badly.

rather than ebay or fiverr why not try one of the better BST services here.

I personally wouldn't touch anything on ebay or fiverr for linkbuilding with a 10 foot pole.

geeze! 40,000 backlinks for $10? Do you think that will do you any good? Can you imagine if all it took was a few $10 40k link blasts and you could rank well?

newsflash, that won't work. you will be doing yourself more harm than good mate...

Focus on high quality links, even if paid, as those will get you the most bang for your buck AND you'll see results...

40,000 backlinks might look a little suspicious to say the least!

I would recommend quality over quantity. Look for a hand-made backlink service like Ardor Backlinks
