Yes, there are several steps to follow for good backlinking. Find sites that have authority in your niche and use a scraper to see which one of those are accepting guest posts and contributions. I have a blog article on this here:

Once you have your list, reach out to them individually offering a free article in exchange for a backlink. Many will accept, most will reject.

EDIT : I know blog comments are worse than backlinks from a blog article but I don't have time to write articles. Can I use the same process for blog comments ?

No not at all. Build your site and post as many posts as possible. After a month, think about starting to build backlinks.

You can find plenty of tutorials in the SEO section. Download Link Assistant from SEO powersuit if possible. It’s free. You can find some good links prospects related to your keywords. Start searching for blogs where you can leave comments. Comment something related to the post you are commenting on and leave a hyperlink with the keyword you want to rank to. So when you click the keyword, it’ll redirect to your website. That’s a backlink there. Depending on the website PR and DA you are making the backlink on, the effect on SEO would change. For an example, if you make a valid link on a high PR website, it’ll get you a good boost.

Always copy the links you make comments on. You can index these links using a good indexer so Google would find them faster. Blog commenting is just one of the things that you could do. There are more like social signals and bookmarks which you can easily find tutorials on how to do. Cheers!

Social links are not direct ranking tools, but they are helpful in showing the site is natural and engaging visitors, as well as useful for indexing.
